This page explains how to raise a copyright complaint with Sejdaa, and how we handle one. We respect other people’s copyright, and we ask visitors to respect ours.
Our own content is protected
The material we publish on https://www.sejdaa.net belongs to us. That covers the source code and scripts behind the 282 tools, the tool pages and their descriptions, the guides and articles on our blog, and the graphics, layout and branding of the site. You may use the tools freely for personal or commercial work on your own files. You may not copy our code, republish our guides as your own, mirror the site, or resell the toolkit without written permission.
Short quotations with a link back to the original page are fine, and we appreciate them.
We host no third-party uploads
We want to be direct about this, because it changes what a takedown notice can be about.
Sejdaa hosts no user-uploaded content. There are no accounts, no profiles, no comments, no forums and no file storage. Every tool runs inside the visitor’s own browser, so files reach our server only for the 44 office conversions, which delete the upload the moment they finish in the first place. We are not a hosting provider for other people’s material, and we do not operate a notice-and-takedown pipeline for stored user content.
In practice, if you find something on sejdaa.net that you believe infringes your copyright, it is something we published ourselves: a page, a guide, an image, or a piece of code. A notice to us is therefore a request that we correct our own material, and we treat it that way. If your complaint is about content on a different website, you will need to contact that website; we cannot act on material we do not control.
How to send a notice
Send your notice by email to [email protected] with the subject line DMCA Notice. A valid notice should include all of the elements below. This list follows the requirements of 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3).
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If several works are covered by one notice, give a representative list.
- Identification of the material you say is infringing, and information reasonably sufficient for us to find it. A full URL on sejdaa.net is the most useful thing you can give us. A screenshot helps too.
- Your contact details: full name, mailing address, telephone number and email address, so we can reply.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
Please make the notice specific. A message that says only “you copied my content” without a URL or a description of the work is hard to act on, and we will have to come back to you for details before we can do anything.
What happens after a notice
We acknowledge valid notices within about 3 business days. From there:
- We review the material you identified and compare it with your description of the original work.
- If the claim looks valid, we remove or amend the material, or replace it with our own original content, usually within 7 business days of acknowledgement.
- We reply to you with what we did. If we believe the material is not infringing, we will explain why, and we may offer to correct attribution or add a link instead.
- If a notice is incomplete, we tell you what is missing rather than ignoring it.
Because the site hosts no user uploads, there is usually no third party to notify and no content to restore. The exception is a counter-notice, described next.
Counter-notice
If we removed material that you published or that you believe is lawful, you can send a counter-notice to [email protected] with the subject line DMCA Notice. A counter-notice should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the location it appeared at before removal, such as the full URL.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of a court for the district in which your address is located, or, if you are outside the United States, to a court of competent jurisdiction, and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.
We will review a counter-notice and respond, and we may restore material where the law allows and where we are satisfied the counter-notice is valid.
Repeat infringement and abuse
We do not run a user-content platform, so there is no repeat-infringer account list to maintain. We will still act firmly against anyone who repeatedly misuses our site, our content or this process: attempts to scrape or clone the site, attempts to file notices in bad faith, and attempts to use a copyright complaint to silence lawful material.
One more thing worth saying. Knowingly making a false claim of copyright infringement carries legal liability, including damages, costs and attorney’s fees under 17 U.S.C. §512(f). Please only send a notice when you genuinely believe your rights have been infringed.
If you just want a link removed or a name corrected
Most messages we get are not really DMCA matters, and they do not need to be.
If a guide of ours mentions your product and you would like the link removed, or a name, title or date is wrong, or you want your image taken down without any legal claim, just email [email protected] and say so. No legal language needed. Corrections to our own guides are usually handled quickly, and we would rather fix a small mistake early than trade formal notices.
